Fall, to me, means “back to school.” I can hear the loud groan from our student members, but if you think about it, we are all lifetime learners. I recently traveled with other board members to Washington DC to attend the ASID Leadership Experience where we became the students. We were taught about our various Board positions, how to work as a team, and learned to develop programs for all members.  And we returned like students ready for a new school year!

Our strategic plan will provide to all members the tools and resources they need to advance their careers. Students will be offered a mentorship program, portfolio reviews and postings for jobs and internships. We will visit colleges and high schools to grow diversity and inclusion in the interior design profession. There will be study sessions for the NCIDQ, free Lunch and Learns and CEUs for all members.

We will continue to educate the public on how “Design Impacts Life” by offering events such as the Interior Design Tour, Showcase House, designer seminars, and community service projects. Events such as these allow all chapter members to highlight their businesses and projects.

For twenty-six years I have been a member of ASID who has benefited from the advantages of membership. I encourage you to volunteer, become a member of a committee, attend an event or just network with your fellow members to experience the wealth of knowledge our chapter and its members offer.
