Bruce Kading’s designs are steeped in tradition. Classic forms and elegant materials combined with incredible attention to detail create beautiful, timeless spaces. We had the opportunity to ask him about a few of his favorite things and, in turn, we were able to get a good look at what inspires him…Plus, his answers were so good, we could hardly pick just 10!

Beverage: Give me a Tanqueray & Tonic anytime, Winter or Summer! However, I love mimosas and margaritas as well!

Meal: I love Café Lurcat with their pot roast and roasted cauliflower as well as Spoon & Stable’s pork chop and the Noble Lion for their Scallops.

Book: I love historical biographies and love anyone written by Doris Kearns Goodwin. But Also love Dan Brown’s novels because of history involved

Guilty Pleasure: Leche Cake from Café Latte

Fabric: I love Linen/ Silk Damasks and William Morris Prints, not necessarily together

Chair: Wing chairs of almost any kind excite me because of the height and silhouette- also French & English pull up chairs

Accent furnishing: Love Antique and Vintage chandeliers & lamps, but pillowsare most important

Wall covering: Hate most vinyl wall covering, but love dry European printed papers such as Cole & Son, Colefax & Fowler, Sanderson & Zoffany

Artist: Love French Impressionism and Toulouse Lautrec posters

Accessory (personal or decorative): I collect the Dark Blue Wedgewood Jasperware

Hobbies: Touring historical mansions and sites; antiquing; reading historical novels and biographies while sitting by the fire and listening to the waves on the north shore
