Kitchen 240-299 Square Feet – First Place  –

Project Name: Kitchen Revival

Project Statement

This new kitchen in an 1891 home integrates and elevates the style of the kitchen and breakfast room to the level of sophistication of the main living spaces in the home. The goal was to create a design that is traditional, modern in spirit, elegant, and spare all at the same time, while also working as the hub for a busy family of serious cooks.

While in the same location as the former dark stained wood, “fancy” but out-of-place 1980’s kitchen, this kitchen uses white painted cabinetry, stainless steel, marble and handmade Dutch Delft tile to create a simple background for entertaining, homework, breakfast and everyday cooking. Cabinetry at the wide doorways into both the adjacent dining room and breakfast room were made deep to accommodate the depth of cabinetry and a custom-built library ladder was given a home within the doorway.
