Project Name: A Kitchen for Connecting

Project Statement

For a client that loves and lives to entertain, a tasteful and functional kitchen is a must. With nine grandchildren of their own and a foundation to oversee, this home requires a kitchen space to serve as a gathering spot, as well as a perfect staging area for hosting grand fundraisers, all while adhering to their classic French Country style.

Its placement in the home connects it to the informal dining, where French doors open to the outside rose gardens. Convenient access to the dining room and connected butler’s pantry is just across the hall, while a grand living area sits between the two, always at-the-ready for jovial guests. A flawless flow encourages lively conversation or intimate family moments.

In the heart of the home, special details abound. Scroll designs are prominently featured throughout. The curved island corbel was designed to complement the hood and cabinetry, while a toe-kick detail completes the room’s classic and elegant feel. At the same time, a delft tile backsplash incorporates quaint pattern in a blue tone that highlights the room’s welcoming and comfortable nature. Subtle notes of yellow complete the French Country look without being over-the-top. The lanterns bring a touch of iron into the kitchen space, yet are simple and sophisticated. Our client’s love of antiques inspired the armoire refrigerator designed to mimic the ornate furnishings they often collect. The kitchen’s access to the formal dining room allows family and guests to easily move from room to room no matter what the reason for gathering. The eat-in kitchen further features elements of color and pattern. From the plaid on the chairs to the herringbone wood table, this extended seating area provides a place for everyday memories.

It is often said that the kitchen is the heart of a home and this room is a place where people will want to gather. For the homeowner who wanted and needed it all, this space delivers. The island is an ideal perch for grandchildren spending the weekend, as well as friends gathered round with wine in hand. This space is truly an entertainer’s dream come true.
